  • Click on the button titled ‘Create’ to start with the creation of a new network profile.   • In the first field labeled ‘Profile name’, you should enter a desired name for the connection, which you can use to easily recognize the connection later on.
  • In the ‘Server Address’ field, you need to enter the IP address of the VPN server that you wish to connect to.
  • Next, you will see the fields labeled ‘username’ and ‘password’, where you must enter the log in credentials for the VPN service that you have subscribed to.
  • Now, click on the ‘next’ button to continue with the configuration process.
  • Next, you will get another form, where you need to enter other connection related values.
  • In the ‘Authentication’ field, select the option named ‘MS CHAPv2’ and then select the option ‘Maximum MPPE’ for the ‘Encryption’ field.
  • Check the option for “use default gateway on remote network” and then click on the ‘Apply’ button to proceed with the configuration of the connection.
  • Now, you are done with the configuration settings for the connection, after which, you will be able to see the connection name on the left side of the ‘VPN’ menu and details of the connection on the right side.
  • Here, click on the ‘connect’ button, provided on the right side of the screen to initiate the process to establish the connection with the desired server.
  • You will be able to connect to the PPTP VPN server successfully through your Synology NAS using these configuration settings.
